How to Use Your PMP® Exam Simulators

Welcome, and congratulations on starting your PMP exam preparation. Your access includes three full-length practice exams — each with 180 questions and a 240-minute timer, built to mirror the real PMP testing experience and aligned with the latest PMBOK® Guide. This page explains exactly how to reach the simulators, how the exam password works, and how to get the most out of each attempt.

Quick start

  1. Create your free account and log in at pmlearn.com.
  2. Open the access (unlock) lesson and upload your proof of purchase.
  3. Open any simulator lesson — the current password is shown in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Enter the password, click Start, and begin your exam.

Step-by-step

1. Create your free account

Go to pmlearn.com and register (or log in if you already have an account). You’ll use this account to access the simulators and to track which exams you’ve completed.

2. Unlock your access

Open the access lesson and complete the short upload form to confirm your purchase. Acceptable proof is usually your Amazon order confirmation or receipt for the book (an order number or a screenshot of your order is fine). Submit the form — this confirms you’re a verified reader.

3. Find your exam password

When you open any simulator lesson, the current password is displayed in the thin bar at the bottom of the screen (bottom-left). You can click it to select and copy it.

One password, all three exams. The same password unlocks Exam 1, Exam 2, and Exam 3. For security it changes about every two months — the new one always appears in that bottom bar, so you never have to hunt for it.

4. Start a simulator

Open the lesson for the exam you want (Exam 1, 2, or 3). You’ll see the exam title, the question count, and the time limit. Type the current password into the Password field and click Start. Your timer begins when you start, so make sure you’re ready before clicking.

5. During the exam

  • Timing. You have 240 minutes for 180 questions — the same pace as the real exam (about 1 minute 20 seconds per question). A countdown timer is shown at the top.
  • Navigation. Use the arrows to move between questions. You can go back and change answers at any time before you submit.
  • Mark for Review. Tick Mark for Review on any question you want to revisit, then return to it before finishing.
  • Case studies. Some questions are grouped under a short scenario (a “case study”). Read the scenario once, then answer each of its questions — every sub-question is scored individually.
  • Stay in the tab. Don’t refresh the page or close the tab mid-exam; finish in one sitting where you can.

6. Submit and review your results

When you reach the end, submit the exam to see your score and a breakdown of your performance. Each question includes an explanation of the correct answer — review these carefully, as the reasoning is where the real learning happens. Treat anything you got wrong (or guessed) as a study cue.

Retakes

You can take each simulator more than once. Because the questions stay the same, a retake is most useful for confirming you’ve closed your knowledge gaps rather than memorizing answers — focus on why each answer is correct, not just which letter it was.

Tips for the best experience

  • Use a laptop or desktop with a stable internet connection — the exam works on tablets and phones, but a larger screen is far more comfortable for 180 questions.
  • Set aside a quiet block of time. Treat it like the real thing: one sitting, no interruptions.
  • If the text feels large or small, use your browser zoom (Ctrl and + / −) to adjust.

Troubleshooting & support

“Invalid password” when I click Start

The password is case-sensitive and must be typed exactly. Click the password chip at the bottom of the exam page to select and copy it cleanly. If it still fails, the password may have rotated — use the most recent one shown in that bottom bar.

The exam page is blank or won’t load

Refresh once, and make sure you’re logged in. If you use an ad-blocker or strict privacy extension, allow this site, since the exam loads in an embedded window.

I can’t see the simulator lessons

Make sure you’ve completed the unlock step (Step 2) and are logged in with the same account you used to register.
